Storage & Maintenance Tips
The ShoreStation hoist requires very little maintenance; however, we do recommend the following steps to be taken at regular intervals:
- When greasing the hub, lower the platform until it rests on the lower frame.
- Remove the acorn nut and flat washer on the lift wheel drive shaft. Turn the wheel counter-clockwise and remove it.
- Place a light application of grease on the course threads. You'll find a tube of the recommended grease inside the winch housing.
- After greasing the threads, thread the wheel back on until the winch mechanism begins to ratchet.
- Replace the flat washer and acorn nut. Test the winch mechanism to make sure the brake system is functioning properly and will support a load in the raised position. If it does, the hoist is now ready to operate.
- Be sure that the hoist platform is all the way up before storage. In this position, the ram on the cylinder is not exposed during the off season.
- Disconnect the pump and motor and store inside.
- If the pump and motor must be stored outside, they must be covered.
- If possible the hoist pendant controller should be stored inside.
- If it is not possible to store the pendant inside, the hoist controller pendant should be covered and hung upside down so water cannot enter the unit during thawing cycles.
- For DC hoists, the battery should be fully charged and stored inside in a warm location on rubber or wood.
- Fog the DC hoist pump with WD-40 per the troubleshooting guide instructions.
Our vinyl canopies contain a mildew retardant. Please follw these recommendations to insure that this agent is not destroyed and that the vinyl will not be damaged.
- Ordinary oil and dirt can be removed with soapy water such as laundry detergent. Apply with a mop, sponge, brush or cloth followed by a clear-water rinse. Stubborn spots can be removed by using rubbing (Isopropyl) alcohol in a well-ventilated area, away from open flames. DO NOT USE gasoline, kerosene, methyl ethyl keyton (MEK) or other solvents or bleaches.
- Remove canopy when hoist is in storage. Make sure canopy is dry before folding and store in a warm, dry location.
